Our Farm Environmental Management Plans (FEMP or FEP) are easy-to-digest documents that provide detailed scientific soil and land resource analysis along with any environmental mitigation measures that are recommended to bring your farm in line with your regional council’s regulations. They include freshwater, biodiversity and matauranga Māori modules. There are many plan providers out there, but very few are as experts in this field as Groundstock.

All regional councils in New Zealand require farmers to submit FEMPs, to remain in compliance with their regulations, by 2025. The requirement for certified Freshwater Farm Plans will be phased in from 2023 and these are integrated into our full FEMP.

We tailor our expert plans to suit the requirements of individual councils while aligning with the farmer’s personal and business goals. We currently produce FEMPs tailored specifically for the Waikato, Hawkes Bay, Horizons and Greater Wellington regions.

Groundstock recently produced an FEMP for Justin and Meg King from the Tukituki Catchment in Hawkes bay. “We thought we had five soil types but it turns out we have 17. There is huge opportunity to use that soil mapping data to fine-tune your inputs and to know what your expected outputs are too. The key is to use that data. That’s where you can pay for this plan pretty quickly.” says Justin.
