Groundstock is a small professional land resource management company offering expert assessment and strategies on a 
comprehensive range of land management services. Groundstock is the industry leader, using the latest mobile mapping technology to deliver effective solutions and punch far above our weight.

Groundstock is based in Whanganui and services the central and lower North Island, including the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Whanganui, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Kapiti and Wellington regions.

Dan Elms, Director of Groundstock, spent 6 years working on sheep and beef farms during his twenties, before becoming a qualified land management consultant. He knows what works and what doesn’t in a real life farming environment. Having worked on both sides of the ‘fence’, Dan  understands the need for practical strategies for farmers.

Groundstock’s mission is to help create a resilient, efficient and responsible farming economy in New Zealand. That’s what smarter landuse is all about.

Daniel Elms


Daniel Elms, director of Groundstock Ltd, has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Postgraduate Diploma (with merit) from Massey University. He has practiced as a soil and land mapper since 2009, and has mapped over 90,000 hectares of agricultural land. He combines his technical soil mapping skills with a wealth of experience gained from working on a wide range of land management projects, from intensive dairy/cropping operations to extensive sheep and beef farms.

Daniel has significant experience with: Soil Mapping, Land Use Capability (LUC) mapping, Land Resource Inventory (LRI) mapping, Nutrient Management Plans, Whole Farm Plans, and erosion control strategies for hill country farms.

Dan is an Advanced Sustainable Nutrient Management (ADVSNM) accredited advisor.
